The food system is a major cause of greenhouse gases emissions in the planet and responsible for large loss of biodiversity.
In commodity-producing countries in the Global South, the contribution of the agri-food sector to total GHG emissions is greater than the global average. According to the Climate Observatory, the Brazilian agricultural sector accounts for 69% of the total GHG emissions in the country .
At the same time, climate change directly affects food security, with impacts on food production and access to food. Food systems should be looked at from both a mitigation and climate change adaptation standpoint.
To this end, we focus on sustainable systems that promote healthy diets through the valorization of biodiversity, food diversity and with lower climate and resource impact.
